Light can be written; it has a name: Photography. On the other hand, the life it contains, the moment it captures, the subversiveness of the moment it tells, are all stories inaudible to the viewer. When the material is light, the photographer plays with it through different technical processes similar to pencil, charcoal or even paint...Sophie Scheidecker Gallery offers for the first time an exhibition dedicated to silver photography, uniting Erwin Blumenfeld, František Drtikol, Stéphane Fedorowsky, Jindřich Heisler, Simon Henwood, Pierre Molinier, Roger Parry, Man Ray, Juli Susin, Maurice Tabard, Miroslav Tichy and Raoul Ubac. Photography, manipulated or not, shapes the subjects during conception, printing or shooting. Negative prints, rayographs, solarizations, overprints, photomontages, burns, collages are techniques that lead to the creation of a new space-time. Surrealist artists have seen the possibility of going beyond the real and accessing the surreal through this new way of representation.
La lumière peut s’écrire ; cela porte un nom : la photographie. En revanche, la vie qu’elle contient, l’instant qu’elle capture, la subversivité de l’instant qu’elle raconte sont autant d’histoires inaudibles à la personne qui la regarde. Quand la matière est la lumière, le photographe joue avec elle par différents procédés techniques similaires au crayon, fusain ou encore à la peinture…La galerie Sophie Scheidecker propose pour la première fois une exposition consacrée à la photographie argentique en associant Erwin Blumenfeld, František Drtikol, Stéphane Fedorowsky, Jindřich Heisler, Simon Henwood, Pierre Molinier, Roger Parry, Man Ray, Juli Susin, Maurice Tabard, Miroslav Tichy et Raoul Ubac. La photographie, qu’elle soit manipulée ou non sculpte les sujets lors de la conception, du tirage ou en encore de la prise de vue. Les tirages négatifs, les rayographies, les solarisations, les surimpressions, le photomontage, le brûlage, le collage sont des techniques qui amènent à la création d’un nouvel espace temps.
Les artistes surréalistes ont vue l’opportunité d’aller au-delà du réel, d’accéder au surréel grâce à ce nouveau mode de représentation.
